Knowledge based strategy.
My time at Eskom Lethabo Power Station as an Electrical Engineer has built the foundation of my knowledge base. I progressed to managing the Asset Management contract, specifically pertaining to rotating equipment, between Rotek Engineering (Pty) LTD (a subsidiary of Eskom) and Saldanha Steel (now ArcelorMittal Saldanha Works).
I subsequently joined ArcelorMittal South Africa, where my 10-year career further broadened my knowledge base, specifically in maintenance, production and plant management. I headed significant capital furnace rebuilds and was the custodian of the World Class Manufacturing (WCM) business improvement initiative. The World Class Manufacturing business initiative yielded a reduction in safety and environmental incidents, an improvement in productivity, and a significant reduction in the cost of production of steel. Asset management, Operational Excellence, Project Management and World Class Manufacturing remain my key strengths.
I have participated in numerous management programmes including a Management Advancement Programme with Wits Business School and an Executive Management Programme through Duke University, USA.
The knowledge and skill that I have acquired have lent to my skills being paramount to the current strategy of the DRD Group.
